Snack: Palitaw

The children after playing basketball in the afternoon come home famished and thirsty. Here's the Palitaw snack I prepared for them partnered with plain water. Palitaw is very easy to make and healthy too.

3 cups glutinous flour
1 cup water
1 1/2 cup grated/shredded coconut
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds

Toast sesame seeds and grind.

Mix ground sesame seeds with sugar. Set aside.

Prepare grated/shredded coconut milk in a large plate. Set aside.

Mix water with glutinous flour until evenly distributed.
Form into small balls (30 pieces) and flatten with fingers to form tongues.
Drop in boiling water. When they float, skim and drop in cold water.
Drain and roll in grated/shredded coconut.
Top with sesame and sugar mixture.
Serve cold.

Here's where I found the proportions of Palitaw recipe. My mother owns this cookbook. I plan to ask it from her one of these days. : )

Enjoy!
