I am taking advantage of my two sons' love for vegetables. In Kitchen Cow's site I found this recipe: Chayote in Oyster Sauce, another way of cooking sayote for my children.
Ingredients:
Preparation:
Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp canola oil
- 3-5 cloves garlic, minced
- 200 grams ground beef
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 3pcs. chayote
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 tsps cornstarch
- 2tbsp oyster sauce
Preparation:
Thanks to Kitchen Cow's Recipe: Chayote in Oyster Sauce. I learned a different way of cooking chayote and added one more to my growing list of vegetable dishes. We (mother and kids) loved the crunchiness and sweet taste of the dish.
- Prepare chayote: peel then halve each vegetable. Remove the seed, wash and drain. Then julienne slice.
- Heat canola oil in a wok. Add the garlic and sauté until slightly darker but not brown.
- Add the ground beef (I used beef because my family is abstaining from pork). When evenly browned, add fish sauce.
- When beef is almost done, add chayote slices. Sauté.
- Mix water, sugar, cornstarch and oyster sauce.
- When chayote is still crunchy but almost done, add the sauce.
- Let thicken a bit, then serve.
Enjoy!
